It’s not too late to race in the Head Of The Charles. Though entries for most events have long since closed, registration for the Director’s Challenge events will remain open until Friday October 15. The Director’s Challenge is the only way to maximize your HOCR racing experience and take a second, or even a third trip up the storied race course; Director’s Challenge races are exempt from the Regatta’s strict one-event limit. And competitors in the Director’s Challenge will be playing a big part in guaranteeing the Regatta will remain financially healthy for decades to come.
Mixed doubles, parent-child doubles, and men’s, women’s and mixed quad races are sprinkled throughout the Saturday and Sunday schedule. Entry fees are $500 for doubles, and $1000 for quads, with $280 of the doubles entry and $760 of the quad entry going as a tax-deductible contribution to the permanent endowment of the 501(c)(3) that operates Head Of The Charles.
Racers in the New England area also have a chance to win a free Director’s Challenge entry by test-driving a Lincoln at participating Lincoln dealers through October 7.
Further information, entry forms, and a schedule for the Director’s Challenge events are available at the Head of the Charles website: http://hocr.org/competitors/directorschallenge.asp.
